We are going through a period of hardly any rainfall. The river Waal has reached a near all time low. Here you see the slope of the dyke facing the river. Now the sheep are enjoying the grass and the shade

"Make hay when the sun shines." That is exactly what is going on here. Close to the river the wind is always stronger making the grass turn into hay in just a couple of days

About Us
River Sheepdogs is situated right in the centre of The Netherlands. Enclosed by two of Holland's main rivers in a region called Het Land van Maas en Waal. With a length of some 30 kilometres and a width of 5 kilometres this part of Holland is completely surrounded by dykes to protect the area against the high water levels that annually flood large areas of lands not protected by the high dykes.
